7th Tharig Rinpoche
Jamyang Kunga Trinlay Palbar is reincarnation of the sixth Tharig Rinpoche Jamyang Dhamchoe Nyima. The former Tharig Rinpoche entered into Parinirvana in 1998 during his South Asian Dharma tour in Singapore. After two years, His Holiness, the Sakya Trizin, Supreme Head of Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism recognized the child born to the Tibetan family residing in Bir Tibetan settlement, somewhat 50 Kilometers from Dharamsala, home of Dalai Lama and exile Tibetan Government, as reincarnation of the former Tharig Rinpoche. His childhood name was Tashi Tobgyal/Ngawang Choeying given respectively by H. H. Minling Trichen Rinpoche and His Holiness Sakya Trizin.Ngawang Choeying is the youngest child and second son of his parent, Thupten Karga and Tenzin Yeshi.
In year 2000 when Ngawang Choeying reached age 2, a Ceremonial Conferring of Name and Robe Ceremony were held under auspices of His Eminence Luding Khenchen Rinpoche in Tharig Monastery. The formal Enthronement Ceremony was conducted in 2006 under auspices of His Holiness Sakya Trizin in presence of Their Holinesses and the representatives of High Lamas of Tibetan Buddhism. And dignitaries like the representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, His Excellency Lhundrup Dorjee and the member of Tibetan Parliament, his Excellency Pema Jungney were also presided over to the ceremony.
A magazine brought out as a memory of his enthronement ceremony entitled "His Holiness Sakya Trizin's VISIT TO NEPAL" provides detail news on Rinpoche's enthronement ceremony.
Jamyang Kunga Trilay Palbar began his basic studies of writing, reading and memorizing ritual text at the age of four. He has already gained mastery over the customary monastic ritual texts and the arts, on how to perform rites and rituals accompanied by playing of monastic musical instruments.
Under the competent guidance of Lama Lodoe who is appointed as Rinpoche's tutor by His Eminence Luding Khen Rinpoche, Tharig Rinpoche has embarked on the learning of Buddhist philosophical text such as Bodhicaryavatara and Letter to His King Friend by Nagarjuna. Moreover, his learning of English, Nepali and Chinese language is also going side by side administered by some qualified teachers.
